DIESEL RAILCARS

22000-class Deliveries 6-car standard-class ICR set 22044 was delivered to Waterford Belview on Friday 12 June. 6-car standard class set 22045, which is the last set of the original 183 vehicle order, was delivered to Belview Port, Waterford, on Thursday 20 August 2009. It was hauled to Limerick Junction by 152 later that afternoon.

22000-Class Workings The final 6-car ICR fitted with Premier Class seating, 22040, entered traffic on Thursday 21 May working the 17:25 Dublin-Limerick.

On Friday 29 May, the second Mallow-Tralee link was converted to a 3-car ICR link. The previous evening, 22019 worked empty from Laois Traincare Depot to Cork to take up the duty. This left the 22:00 Cork-Tralee and 05:25 Tralee-Cork as the only links worked by 2600/2700-class railcars.

Standard class only 6-car set 22041 entered traffic on Tuesday 2 June working the 07:20 Portlaoise-Dublin Heuston. Set 22042 entered service on Thursday 2 July on the 17:25 Dublin Heuston-Limerick.

From Monday 13 July, the 07:05 Athlone-Galway, 09:15 Galway-Dublin and 17:10 Dublin-Athlone were rostered for a 6-car standard-class only ICR, which also works the 10:35 Athlone-Westport and 14:25 Westport-Dublin on Sundays.

In July, trial running of 9-car trains took place on the Dublin-Cork/Limerick lines using Limerick based sets. On Tuesday 21 July and later that week 6-car set 22040 plus 3-car set 22046 were used.

Standard class only 6-car set 22043 entered traffic on Thursday 13 August working the 06:30 Portlaoise-Dublin and then the 08:20 Dublin-Westport, 13:10 Westport-Dublin and 19:15 Dublin-Galway. The same day 22037 worked the 12:00 Dublin-Cork instead of the usual locomotive hauled Mk III standby for the Mk IV set.

Standard class only 6-car set 22044 entered traffic on Monday 7 September working the 17:10 Dublin-Athlone.

22000-class Routes The class is now cleared to operate Ballybrophy-Killonan Junction, Limerick-Ennis and Cork-Cobh/Midleton.
