STATIONS

Connolly   In July, the Evening Herald reported that IÉ/CIÉ were looking at developing the 'air rights' over Connolly Station car park and other areas. These give the owner/renter the right to use and develop the empty space above the property.

It reported that tenders would be sought for a five-year ‘framework agreement’ with teams offering the entire range of architectural, engineering, urban planning, and environment-related services. There would be a mix of apartments and commercial buildings on site together with transport interchange facilities.

New Stations   Work has commenced on construction of the new Phoenix Park station west of Ashtown on the Dublin-Sligo line. Platforms, access stairs and lifts were expected to be completed by December.

DEPOTS

Cork Shed   In May, IÉ advertised for the design, supply, delivery, installation and commissioning of an exhaust extraction system at Cork shed.

Limerick Shed   The maintenance pits are being renewed to suit railcar maintenance.
